MDA’s National Task Force on Public Awareness...
... It’s About… Representation ‘of the people, by the people, for the people’...
In the late 1940s, Paul Cohen, a prominent New York business man who had muscular dystrophy, helped found the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Since MDA began, adults with muscular dystrophy and related diseases have been among its leaders as chapter officers, members of the board of directors, and advisors. Under their guidance, MDA has educated the public about living with disabilities, and supported all efforts to provide people with disabilities with equal rights and opportunities.
